President’s Letter from Michelle Torbert
Hello Florida Families,
Wow, is it hot out!! I hope you are all finding fun things to do to stay
cool!
We have a date for our Fall Conference. It is October 15-16th, 2010 at
the Regal Sun Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Everyone needs to mark
this date down and make every effort to attend. We are having 2 very
special speakers, our wonderful Dr. Jennifer Miller from U of F. and Dr.
Greg Cherpes from the Children’s Institute in Pittsburgh, PA will be
attending. He will be speaking to us about behaviors and we will have
different break-out groups according to your children’s ages so everyone
will have time with him for questions.
Thank you to Jennifer Cheshire and her T Shirt fundraiser, Libby DeLemos
for your fundraising, with Orlando Lutheran Academy, Lady Primrose
Products and Rainbow Christian Academy, Shed your threads (the kids pay
not to wear uniforms for the day)
Participation for our Skip a Lunch fundraiser was very poor this year. I
appreciate the families that did participate, however as large as our
group is we had a very poor turnout. These fundraisers are the way we
are able to bring in great speakers and give out conference grants. If
you did not have a chance to participate and still wish to help, it is
not too late! Send a letter out now to your family, friends and
co-workers. If you need a sample or some help on how to do this, contact
myself or Deb Peaton, debpeaton@tampabay.rr.com or 813-240-9267 and we
will forward the information to you.
I wish all of you a safe, healthy and fun summer vacation and hope to
see all of you in October. As usual, if there is anything I can help
you with, please do not hesitate to call me. I will be out of the
country from August 14 – 26 and will have very limited access to e-mail,
but if you need anything during that time you can contact your district
leader or any board member.
Until next time,
Michelle
Torbert
